Safe Work Methods Training

Proper Lookout

The key to this method is to always be aware of your surroundings. Examine your travel path for anything that could cause a slip or fall, like fluids on the dock, broken straps on the floor, broken pieces of pallet or uneven surfaces. This includes items that may be an overhead hazard or a protruding object from a shelf or shipment.

Other things to look out for would be forklifts, unbalanced loads, pedestrian intersections, and improperly positioned freight on shelves, doors that open blindly into traffic, open file cabinet drawers, piled rolls of carpet or other fabric.
