Safe Work Methods Training

Proper Movement - continued

Jumping is another forbidden practice. This includes jumping off of or on to docks, off of stairs or ladders and out of tractors or trucks. This includes jumping out of trailers. All of these practices place extra stress on feet, ankles, knees and backs. It also provides the opportunity for slips and falls. No jumping on the job.

Skipping steps or rungs on a ladder is another good way to have an injury. When climbing or descending stairs and ladders always use each step or rung. When going up or down a ladder, including the ladder on a tractor, always face the ladder and maintain three points of contact. When descending a ladder always look at the landing zone before steeping off to assure there is nothing in the way like a rock or broken pallet that could cause a sprained ankle or a fall.
